Mettlestate was the tournament organiser for the Vodacom4U CSGO Cup. 16 teams were able to sign up on a first come first served basis. The 16 slots were filled in record time (within hours the slots were filled and a waiting list was populated). This not only showcased how much the South African CSGO scene has grown but also highlighted how it has diversified. Three all female teams were entered and the competition was also the first for Ekasi Esports, an all black owned and managed CSGO team hailing from Soweto.
Following three days of exciting esports action Energy Esports claimed victory in the best of 5 final which took place against Goliath Gaming. This was Goliath Gaming’s first CSGO LAN as an MGO, no doubt their second place finish will sit well with the players. Other notable performances came from Big 5 Esports and Leetpro Esports. The Vodacom4U CSGO Cup showcased how close the CSGO competition has become between South Africa’s big names and highlights more excitement for fans of the scene moving forward.
